After this internal event, we invite our partners for an evening focused on the future of science and society. In a dynamic talk‑show format, we look beyond what VIB has achieved over the past 30 years and explore how we can continue to shape the future. Together with partners from healthcare, industry, investment, and the broader community, VIB researchers bring their stories of innovation, collaboration, and societal relevance to the stage. Expect bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and open conversations about the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Career opportunities
In this parallel session you can explore the many paths a scientific career can take, from academia and industry to policy, publishing, and beyond. Designed primarily for PhD students and postdocs. 
Participants are invited to submit questions for the alumni in advance.

Janssen Beerse employs a full spectrum of capabilities—ranging from the discovery, development of new diseases to state-of-the-art pharmaceutical production, distribution of medicines, and patient access to these medicines. 

The PDC organized a visit of the Botanical Garden in Gent on Saturday September 9th. PDC members had the choice to attend two guided tours (either “Guided tour through the garden" - Introduction to the gardens” or “Plants as medicine: a scientific approach”).

Science snippets from VIB Postdocs!

These talks aim to be accessible to researchers of all backgrounds from VIB - whether you be a mammal, plant, or bacteria aficionado - with a format that is 'ted-talk' inspired.

We hope to increase cross-center visibility, interaction and collaboration of postdocs. At the same time we received a lot of feedback that you all wanted to hear about the research that your fellows are doing. This is your chance!

We regularly organise company visits to pharmaceutical, medical and biotech start-up companies around Belgium.

Come and see how industry labs work, what companies look for in new recruits and establish new networking opportunities!

Béla Z Schmidt is a scientist in VIB SWITCH lab, that interviewed 106 principal investigators from 44 research institutions in 11 countries about their way of thinking and habits regarding scientific research. Springer Nature published the resulting mentoring book. He will give a talk on the 10th of May at 1PM to talk about his work.
