What are you investigating?
I am a researcher at VIB KU Leuven Center for Cancer Biology, where I am interested in the identification of novel therapeutic targets in cancer and genetics diseases using multi-OMICs approaches. I am also an expert in disease modeling using genetic engineering, and monitoring of pathogenesis using innovative imaging technologies such as Micro-CT or MRI.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
I enjoy the diversity of my job, as I am involved in projects implicating collaborators from different backgrounds (biophysics, proteomics, pathologists and imaging). I also enjoy collaborating with researchers from different countries and background, taking into account my multicultural background.
What keeps you busy outside the lab?
As a native of Mauritius, I have travelled a lot and worked in France, UK and now Belgium. I like to travel and meet people from different backgrounds, as I believe diversity can help to create a stimulating and creative work environment. I also like to contribute to causes that are important to me, such as cancer awareness, as well as prevention of side effects of anti-cancer therapy.
What do you appreciate in VIB?
My work at VIB provides me a good work life balance. I am able to balance my professional life and personal interests well. VIB and KUL also give all ground-breaking technologies required to make projects successful, as well as innovative bioinformatics tools. I can also rely on a good network of colleagues that support me and share my passions.
